My New Motto: Food, Fitness and Cultural Analysis

Hello, to the person who reads this. I have no idea what happened to my blog schedule, but I’m here now. I will be trying to be more consistent with this. I pay for this domain, so I really should use it.

This blog is going to change- even though I’ve barely started it. I have interests other than fitness: I like thinking and writing about food and culture also. In my inaugural post, I already found myself engaging in cultural analysis. It didn’t make sense to only write about fitness when I like lots of different stuff. My general tendency would have been to bring those things up regardless, so here we are.

My topics of interest professionally all relate to each other in some way: food and nutrition relates to fitness, and these topics are bound within a culture, which effects the way we work out and live our lives. These three topics are the basis of my future career plan and my online content is a part of that career. My career plan is to work in a kitchen, write for cultural journals, and discuss fitness online. Possible future academic work is also possible. This remains my plan- but it struck me as odd to have such a partisan view of my own online content. Instead, I will be using my online platforms to discuss all aspects of all of these areas. In turn, hopefully some interesting analysis is generated from the synergy, and some useful ideas are generated; I hope other people benefit from this.

In short: this is no longer a fitness blog. It is a fitness, food and culture blog. This is in alignment with my professional aims.

If you saw my last posting, you might be happy to hear I have successfully kicked nicotine. I am so pleased about this. I must admit, I did break my oath. I met an old friend and puffed on her vape pen. That isn’t a euphemism by the way.

Anyway, that’s between me and the Lord. Asides from that small slip-up, it’s been over two months. It’s such a relief. My finances are also thanking me.

Thanks for reading this. I find writing it really satisfying.

Regards,

Jed.
